First day of Summer (Israel)

Today’s first day of summer Google Logo comes to us fresh from Israel. Look familiar to you non-Israelis? It should. Here’s the First Day of Summer Logo Google put up in North America a full 10 days ago:

I have a number of theories to explain this bizarre happenstance:

  • Google is getting lazy. Using the same logos in different countries, on different days? Loyal Googlites like myself can’t help but feel cheated on.
  • Google feel that Israel deserves sand while North America does not. It could be a tribute to the 40 years the Moses and his people spent wandering the desert, or it could be another instance of Jew bias in the media.
  • Is Google using Israel as a window to fix the mistakes it made with past Google logos, in a sense ‘digitally remastering’ them?
